Grand Canyon National Park Wedding Planning

Grand Canyon National Park Weddings

More than 1000 couples enjoy a Grand Canyon National Park wedding every year. Do you want to tell your partner during your vows that you wish the marriage should be as long as the Grand Canyon is deep? Then we have a few options for you.

Weddings may be scheduled up to a year in advance. An Arizona marriage license is required for all couples and a Special Use Permit is needed for outdoor weddings in the park.

The Grand Canyon does not have a scenic site that accompanies more than 85 people. Popular areas include the Rim Worship Site (50 people, 1/4 mile walk), Moran Point (35 people), Lipan Point (35 people) and Grandeur Point (45 people).

A Grand Canyon Railway wedding from Williams to a wedding luncheon at the El Tovar is another option.

Shoshone Point: The area includes a pavilion, picnic tables, and modern outhouses about a mile after crossing gated trailhead access on a dirt road. Most regular visitors must walk but wedding guests have permission to drive. Xanterra will cater receptions here. Note: Ditch the heels for this location because it has wood chips, rocks and lots of dirt that make walking difficult.

The El Tovar Dining Room is an option for a reception of up to 45 people from March 16 to December 1 and up to 80 people from Deember 2 to March 31. The Food and Beverage Department must have a 30 day notice for bookings.

The Santa Fe Room at Maswik Lodge has space for up to 160 people for a buffet dinner or up to 100 people with a plated dinner and dance floor.

The Thunderbird Room is a 1170 square foot room available for groups of more than 20 with a private balcony overlooking the Grand Canyon rim.

Indoor weddings and ceremonies at the South Rim do not require a special use permit. Contact Xanterra Parks and Resorts or Delaware North Companies Parks & Resorts for more information.
