The Signal Knob Overlook faces west from an elevation of 2085 feet at Mile Marker 5.7 on Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park. It looks over Fort Valley, which is served by Stonewall Jackson Highway, as well as Signal Knob, a mountain peak and a civil war outpost near Strasburg.

Signal Knob is located in George Washington National Forest and is the northern peak of Massanutten Mountain. It has an elevation of 2,106 feet and sits around 1500 feet above the Valley floor. Signal Knob served as a key Confederate Signal Station during the American Civil War.

Signal Knob Overlook is found between the Dickey Ridge Visitor Center (near the Front Royal entrance) and Gooney Run Overlook.
