Hot Springs National Park Hiking & Bike Trails

There are 26 miles of day use hiking trails in Hot Springs National Park.

Hot Spring Hikes

Sunset Trail – A 10 mile hike that can be split into three shorter hikes. It is the longest trail in Hot Springs National Park and completes a loop near the inner edge of the park boundary. The three sections are the West Mountain Section, Sugarloaf Mountain Section and the Stonebridge Road Section.

Mountain Top Trail – A 1.5 mile hike of moderate to strenuous difficulty that begins at Whittington Avenue and ends at Prospect Avenue.

West Mountain Trail – A 1.2 mile trail that intersects the Mountain Top Trail above Prospect Avenue.

Canyon Trail – A .7 mile trail of moderate to strenuous difficulty that starts behind the Mountain Valley Water building and intersects with the West Mountain Trail.

Whittington Trail – A 1.2 mile gravel trail popular with joggers and walkers.

Oak Trail – An easy 1 mile trail that is accessed from Mountain Street across from the visitor center and intesects with the Canyon Trail and the Oak Trail.

Hot Springs Mountain Trail – A 1.7 trail of moderate difficulty through the forest that starts just below the Hot Springs Mountain Tower.

Dead Chief Trail – A 1.6 mile walk from Bathhouse row to Gulpha Gorge Campground.

Gulpha Gorge Trail – A .8 mile hike of moderate to strenuous difficulty starting at Gulpha Gorge Campground.

Upper Dogwood Trail – A 1 mile hike of easy to moderate difficulty that starts from the overlook on North Mountain.

Lower Dogwood Trail – A .7 mile hike of easy to moderate difficulty that begins at the east end of Arlington Trail.

Honeysuckle Trail – A .5 mile trail of moderate to strenuous difficulty that crosses Park trail and intersects with both Fountain and Floral trails.

Peak Trail – A .6 mile trail of moderate difficulty that begins at Tufa Terrace trail above the Grand Promenade and climbs Hot Springs Mountain to the Mountain Tower.

Goat Rock Trail – A 1.1 mile hike of easy to moderate difficulty that starts at the overlook at North Mountain. The most popular trail is probably the  first section of the Sunset Trail, which traverses West Mountain and overlooks the south side of Hot Springs and Lake Hamilton.

Floral Trail – A .4 mile trail that connects the Dogwood and Honeysuckle Trails. It is of moderate to strenuous difficulty as it is “uphill both ways”

Biking Paths

Hot Springs Loop – A 51 mile loop through the Ouachita Mountains that cuts through Hot Springs National Park. The ride ends at Bathhouse Row in Hot Springs.
