In the spring and at higher elevations, the winds can be fierce. Winds of 25 to 55 mph with gusts of 70 mph can be routine. In Pine Springs, the average high temperature for June through August is in the Upper 80s with lows in the lower 60s. Higher elevations will be 7-10 degrees cooler than the temperature at lower elevations. Spring and summer can bring occasional showers and late afternoon thunderstorms. Snow and freezing fog can happen in December and January.
