There are about 50 hotels within roughly an hour drive of Congaree National Park. However, there are no national chains in the immediate vicinity. Unlike other towns, Congaree does not have a gateway city that serves as a jumping off point for visitors. There is also no lodging in the park (other than the campgrounds).

Congaree National Park draws visitors from Columbia, SC, the nearest major city. It is also only a few hours from the popular Atlantic Ocean beaches in South Carolina (Myrtle Beach, Hilton Head Island) and the historic cities of Charleston, SC and Savannah, GA.

The closest group of hotels to Congaree National Park are in southeast Columbia at the intersection of I-77 and US-378. They are around 45 minutes from the Congaree National Park visitor center. Columbia is the capitol city of South Carolina as well as the start of the 50 mile Congaree River Blue Trail for kayaking to / through the park.

Santee is a resort town on Lake Marion, the largest lake in South Carolina. It lies at the intersection of I-95 and US 301, about one hour northwest of Charleston and one hour southeast of Congaree National Park.
